In Association with - Rendezvous – London
Hi Everybody,
Here is page 1 of the February / March 2009 eMag.
As there is a great Celebrity Golf event in April we have jumped the gun slightly with its inclusion – however working on the basis of ‘editors’ prerogative’ – when there are good Events that need advance planning a fore-warning will be given.
We have been sent some great ‘jokes’, and we are publishing two today – one appears in Joke Corner, and the other on a dietary theme in Diary Notes – for us all to remember !!!
we hope you enjoy.
My best wishes,
Sandra
NB – as usual if you have any friends / colleagues who you think would like to receive our eMag – please get them to contact us at – sandra@icefiremarketing.com

Joke Corner
THIS IS THE BEST LAWYER/INSURANCE STORY OF 2008,OF THE DECADE, AND POSSIBLY THE CENTURY !!!!!
AND IT IS TRUE !!!!This took place in Charlotte North Carolina ... A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpileof these great cigars, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost 'in a series of small fires.' The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the man had consumed the cigars inthe normal fashion.The lawyer sued and WON!(Stay with me.)Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous.The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company, in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be unacceptable 'fire' and was obligated to pay the claim.Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the cigars that perished in the 'fires'.NOW FOR THE BEST PART...After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON!!!With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.This true story won First Place in lastyear's Criminal Lawyers Award Contest. ONLY IN AMERICA !!!!

And finally – Diary Notes –
Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house, Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse. The cookies I'd nibbled, the chocolate I'd tasted All the holiday parties had gone to my waist. When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber)
I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared, The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese and the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please." I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt and prepared once again to do battle with dirt... I said to myself, as I only can, "You can't spend a winter, disguised as a man!" So, away with the last of the sour cream dip. Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip. Every last bit of food that I like must be banished. Till all the additional ounces have vanished. I won't have a cookie, not even a lick. I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick. I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie. I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore... But isn't that’s what January is for? Unable to giggle, no longer a riot. A Happy New Year to all, and to all a good diet !!!!
Better Late than never !!!!!
