Boisdale of Belgravia is situated in an elegant Regency town house, just north of Buckingham Palace Road and a short stroll from Victoria. Its bars, restaurants and private dining room are open on weekdays and Saturday evenings and offer a selection of menus to suit every budget. With another restaurant in Bishopsgate and The Lamb at Hindon, Salisbury – Boisdale offers a private membership with an eclectic range of events including live jazz every evening, a cigar club and many unusual dinners with wine, champagne and spirit tastings.
The Boisdale Derby 2009
Saturday 6 JuneIn association with the Sporting Agenda · Sponsored by Lloyds TSB
Celebrate the great recession in true British style at the nation’s most popular race meeting on 6 June.
Not daunted by economic adversity we are determined to try and ensure that our time-honoured pleasures in life are not compromised. To this end we have devised a new revolutionary, but traditional, format for the day with the objective of squeezing more enjoyment out of the occasion whilst also reducing costs.
In the past we have enjoyed a seated luncheon in the Boisdale Enclosure which involves an enormous amount of staff and precious space. This year we are going to be providing a luxury lobster picnic and an all day Pommery Champagne & Oyster Bar, which we envisage will create a livelier more interactive atmosphere as well as enabling us to significantly lower the costs of the tickets. The cost of the ticket is £195 per person all inclusive. For more information or to reserve places, please contact Zoe on -Tel: 020 7730 6922 or email: zoe@boisdale.co.uk.

Do read through – especially the Royal Bank of Scotland !!!
21 Economic models explained:
- SOCIALISM
You have two cows.
You give one to your neighbour.- COMMUNISM
You have two cows.
The State takes both and gives you some milk.- FASCISM
You have two cows.
The State takes both and sells you some milk.- NAZISM
You have two cows.
The State takes both and shoots you.- BUREAUCRATISM
You have two cows.
The State takes both, shoots one, milks the other, and then throws the milk away.- TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM
You have two cows.
You sell one and buy a bull.
Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows.
You sell them and retire on the income.- SURREALISM
You have two giraffes.
The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.- AN AMERICAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows.
Later, you hire a consultant to analyze why the cow has dropped dead.- ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND VENTURE CAPITALISM
You have two cows.
You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island Company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States, leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet is provided with the release. The public then buys your bull.- A FRENCH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You go on strike, organize a riot, and block the roads, because you want three cows.- A JAPANESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk.
You then create a clever cow cartoon image called 'Cowkimon' and market it worldwide.- A GERMAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You re-engineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk themselves.- AN ITALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows, but you don't know where they are.
You decide to have lunch.- A RUSSIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You count them and learn you have five cows.
You count them again and learn you have 42 cows.
You count them again and learn you have 2 cows.
You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka.- A SWISS CORPORATION
You have 5000 cows.
None of them belong to you.
You charge the owners for storing them.- A CHINESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You have 300 people milking them.
You claim that you have full employment, and high bovine productivity.
You arrest the newsman who reported the real situation.- AN INDIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You worship them.- A BRITISH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Both are mad.- AN IRAQI CORPORATION
Everyone thinks you have lots of cows.
You tell them that you have none.
No-one believes you, so they bomb the crap out of you and invade your country.
You still have no cows, but at least you are now a Democracy.- AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Business seems pretty good.
You close the office and go for a few beers to celebrate.- A NEW ZEALAND CORPORATION
You have two cows.
The one on the left looks very attractive.
There we have it - the world's economies summed up by a load of cows - although I am not a feminist why isn't it bulls ?? Although of course they are not so versatile and obviously not 'worshipped' in the same way!! Still this is brilliant !!NB – However we do badly need a bull market.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * On a slightly more serious note –

27th & 28th June 2009
Open 11am – 5pm
The Old Stables, Oaks Park, Croydon Lane,
Sutton SM7 3BA
‘The Studios are an imaginative use of old stables, once part of the estate of the Earl of Derby, who was of historic importance to horse racing at nearby Epsom. They are now occupied by a group of visual artists whose practice includes painting, sculpture, printmaking and puppetry’.“In Art there is only one thing that counts; the thing you can't explain”
— Georges Braque
Painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed-media and puppetry – this year’s celebration of our work promises an enjoyable experience of art forms both familiar and new in the beautiful surroundings of Oaks Park, where our unique community of studios is located.
Elly Wright will follow her successful shows in London and France exhibiting colourful French landscapes. Simon Burder will show prints depicting rural Britain. Abstract works by Kate B Hall and Jill Evans will contrast with the figurative concerns of animal sculptor Kendra Haste and paintings inspired by people and places by Susan Absolon.
New to the studios this year are Nick Ladd, who will show recent work and Karin Andrews-Jashapar’s enchanting shadow puppetry. Abbi Torrance, who has exhibited in London and Holland this year will show her meticulous pencil drawings alongside Roger Nell’s photographic prints. Itamar Martinez will show a new series of paintings entitled ‘Las Voces del Silencio’. Nicolette Carter and Kate Wilson are this year’s invited artists.
During the past year artists from Oaks Park Studios have shown their work at ‘Ole’ restaurant in Putney in exhibitions curated by Itamar Martínez. Some of us will again participate in the annual exhibition at Honeywood House in Carshalton, part of Sutton’s ‘Imagine’ arts festival.
