Another Great Event in support of the
Help for Heroes charity -
An incredible line up of stars will come together on September 12th 2010 for the biggest event of the year and a landmark in the history of entertainment, to mark the nation’s appreciation of our military heroes.
In honour of the service and sacrifice made by men and women for their country, risking everything in the line of duty, some of the biggest names in entertainment are proudly coming together in aid of Britain’s war wounded.
Musicians and comedians are joining forces for the spectacular event that will be broadcast on BBC One.
Robbie Williams, who this year celebrates 20 years in music, will headline the show which also features a cross section of the biggest musical names including Enrique Iglesias, James Blunt, Alexandra Burke, Pixie Lott, Alesha Dixon, Katherine Jenkins performing with Spelbound, Plan B, The Saturdays and The Wanted.
The show will be hosted by the cream of the UK’s comedy talent -
John Bishop, Kevin Bridges, Jack Dee, Jason Manford and Michael McIntyre have all pledged their support.
Of course, all performers have donated their services free of charge.
Robbie Williams said, “I am honoured to be a part of this show and to help draw attention to the amazing job done by our servicemen and women throughout the world. Their dedication to our country is phenomenal and we are all so proud of them”.
Hundreds of thousands of members of the British public have ‘done their bit’ for Help for Heroes by running races, climbing mountains, baking cakes, shaving their legs and giving the contents of their money box - raising a stunning £59 million to date. Now it is the turn of the music and comedy legends to play their part and help ensure that our Heroes receive the best support that money can buy.
Help for Heroes has united the nation behind the Armed Forces. The charity does not question the rights and wrongs of recent wars, just strives towards providing the best possible care and support for those wounded in the service of our country.
This is not only a fundraising concert, but a statement of appreciation from the UK ‘s entertainment community to our brave young service men and women.
60,000 fans and troops will be at Twickenham Stadium for the show.
The guests of honour will include injured service personnel and their carers who will receive free tickets as a small ‘thank you’ for the sacrifices they have made.
All revenue from the Event, after deduction of Live Nation’s fee together with all costs and expenses directly relating to the hire of the venue and the staging of the Event, will be paid directly to Help for Heroes (Registered Charity Number: 1120920) or to Help for Heroes Trading Limited in support of Help for Heroes. It is expected that Help for Heroes will receive in the region of £750,000 from the Event
